This group is committed to developing scientific research with practical applications in maritime and port logistics operations. We have two main research avenues:
The first research line is dedicated to planning and scheduling problems to handle cargo and serve incoming vessels, barges, trucks, and rail at ports supported by optimization and data analytics techniques.
The second research line is dedicated to maritime shipping network design decisions, container repositioning, ship routing problems, and port-hinterland or container drayage problems.
The structure of the group considers a representative per country in Iberoamerica, but we are not closed to integrate participants from other countries. At present, we have participants from Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Spain. The AWG welcomes any person interested in exploring collaborations in this field, for which you just have to contact the general coordinator or the representative of your country, to be incorporated in an email list and receive information about activities of the group.

ACTIVITIES OF THE AWG
J14th International Conference on Logistics and Maritime Systems (LOGMS 2026) and the EUROMar Conference on Maritime and Port Logistics (EUROMar 2026), which will take place on 7-10 July 2026 in Barcelona, Spain. Looking ahead, the theme will be Networks, Energy and Intelligence: Designing the Next Generation of Maritime Logistics. LOGMS provides a platform for establishing international networks among researchers and practitioners in logistics and maritime systems. The LOGMS conference is a meeting among maritime logistics and systems experts to share research methodologies and results with each other and explore future development directions. LOGMS-EUROMar website
Joining two conferences and at two universities, in the tradition of the ICCL conference series, ICCL focuses on the theory and applications of operations research, artificial intelligence, and management science to problems in logistics. The EUROMar aims to explore, discuss, and advance all those relevant research areas in the interplay between maritime and port logistics and optimization.
The XI CIDESPORT was organized by the University of Southern Santa Catarina (UNISUL), through the Graduate Program in Administration (PPGA) in partnership with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), through the Graduate Programs in Accounting – PPGC / Production Engineering – PPGEP and with the University of Valencia – Spain, through the Department of Accounting.
